Welcome to my Beauty Blog!
This is my very first post EVER so I would like to tell you a little bit about myself and why I decided to start a blog.
Since I was a little girl living a tiny rural town in Oklahoma, I have had the desire to be a nurse. I believe I was about 11 years old when my uncle was admitted to the hospital. I vividly remember the nurses taking very good care of him. I was in awe. At that very moment, I knew that nursing was my calling. Fast forward 15 years, I officially became a nurse!
I have been a registered nurse for sixteen years, a nurse practitioner for almost four years, in which two of those years were in the medical aesthetics industry.
With my medical knowledge and expertise, my focus has always been in prevention and being proactive when treating my patients with their healthcare issues. I have taken that same philosophy with skin care for my patients when I opened my practice!
What made me become interested in skin care and medical aesthetics?
Well, I give all the credit to my beautiful cousin and fashionista Pooja Bhakta! Follow her on Instagram (@poojabhakta28) and you will know what I mean. Pooja worked as an esthetician ten years ago and had encouraged me to learn about medical aesthetics. She said to me “become a Medical Aesthetician, you won’t regret it”. She added that I could still help others in a rewarding and fun way while still using my healthcare knowledge. It was enticing and definitely less stressful than working 12 hour shifts in the hospital. But at that time, I shrugged it off. It just was not the right time. My focus was solely on being a mom and raising my two little boys.
Over the years, I noticed healthcare was rapidly changing! Nurse Practitioners were becoming the future of healthcare. I knew I had to do it!! With the support of my husband and family, I went back to school and earned an NP degree while I worked full time as a nurse in the hospital. Challenging? YES!! Worth it? Absolutley YES!! Now, I work as a hospitalist in the acute care setting and have been doing this for the last four years.
Once again, after two years as a practicing nurse practitioner, Pooja approached me once again about becoming a medical aesthetician! I thought about it for awhile and decided that it was the perfect time. So I jumped in head first and took the courses!
I had an amazing educational experience at National Laser Institute! https://nationallaserinstitute.com/
I would highly encourage any nurse who is interested in becoming a nurse injector or medical aesthetician to take their program!! They have experienced instructors that are experts in the this field who provide both didactic and hands on experience!!
Since I started my practice as a medical aesthetician, I have learned so much about skin care and developed many personalized treatment protocols that have helped many men and women with anti-aging, hyperpigmentation, acne scarring and prevention treatments!
I love what I do. When I see my clients’ happy faces, its the best feeling in the world!!
Why did I decide to start blogging?
I want to educate people about simple tips that they could do to take better care of their skin. The treatments that are available that could help with whatever skin problems that one may have and the best products that are available in today’s market that are reasonably priced that show REAL results. I emphasize REAL because FAKE, unsubstantiated skin care products are ubiquitous. I also want to help people answer any questions they may have about their skin and/or skin care issues.
I may not have all the answers, but I will do my best to find the answers! I am blessed with a network of vast resources which include practicing medical aestheticians, physicians, licensed estheticians, pharmacists and skin care experts! Thus, I will get the answers people need!
What questions do you have about your skin?
Have you ever wondered, if your Skin Could Talk? What would it say or ask?
Lots of love,
Keata Bhakta, NP
